What is Redirection?

You can use 301 permanent redirections when you have moved to a new website and you want to make this transaction seamless. Bloggers use 301 URL redirections when they want to remove an old blog post permanently but they still need to redirect that old blog post visitors to the new one. They use 301 redirects to send traffic from the other URLs to your preferred URL. If you are merging two websites and want to make sure that the old domain visitors to the new one. In these situations, users should use 301 redirections.

What is 302 Redirection?

Whereas a 301 redirect is a permanent relocation of your URL but 302 redirects are temporary. This redirect doesn’t carry or pass the link juice to the new location. For example, if you are redesigning your website and you think visitors won’t need to to see while you redesign but you want to send the visitors to another page temporarily. You only use a 302 if you’re planning on eventually bringing the old page back.

A bad implementation of 301 redirects could the loss of traffic but you implement it properly, it could help you to regain 10-15% traffic.
